Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries are a great way to get your kid into the kitchen – first for them to help making them and second because they are going to want to eat these!
My kids definitely go in phases with foods. For a week they’ll be all about strawberries or a certain type of crackers, and the next week when I stock up on those same items at the grocery store, they want nothing to do with them. Go figure.
Blueberries haven’t been on their radar for quite some time, so I wanted to come up with a way to present them to them in a new and fun way. That’s where these Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries came in!
I recruited Lars to help me make them. He is pretty much always up for helping me in the kitchen and is always much more likely to eat something if he helps make it. So while it might take a little longer with him helping or make a bigger mess, the end result is worth it!
These Frozen Yogurt Covered blueberries are super easy to put together, which makes them perfect for kiddo helpers. Depending on the age of your kid and tolerance for mess, you could really have your kids make these entirely theirselves!
What Ingredients are in Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries?
These require only three ingredients: yogurt, honey, and blueberries! If you use Greek yogurt, you might want to thin it out a little with a splash of milk, too. We always have plain whole milk Greek yogurt in our refrigerator, so that’s what we used. If you have a vanilla sweetened yogurt, you probably don’t even need to add the honey.
How Do You Make Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries?
You start by mixing together the plain yogurt and honey. As mentioned before, if you are using a sweetened yogurt, you probably don’t need to add any honey, but that’s definitely up to personal preference.
Then you poke blueberries with a toothpick and then dip in the yogurt. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and stick them in the freezer! They will probably be ready in a couple of hours, but we frozen ours overnight to make sure they were completely frozen.
To eat the Frozen Yogurt Covered Blueberries, you can use forks, spoons, or even fingers! They do get a little messy after being out for a few minutes so you might want to use utensils at that point.
Can I Use Other Fruit?
Yes! If you or your kids aren’t fan of blueberries, other fruits would definitely work. I think strawberries, raspberries, peach slices, and bananas would all work great, too!
These are great for a snack at home or even as part of breakfast!
