A comprehensive roundup of our absolute favorite Trader Joe’s Kid Snacks!
Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite places to grocery shop…especially for snacks! Today I’m rounding up my favorite Trader Joe’s kid snacks to pick up for my kids (and let’s be honest, Marc and I) to snack on!
Dried Fruit
Trader Joe’s has an amazing selection of dried fruit. The hard part is just choosing what fruit to get! Our favorites are the golden raisins, dried blueberries, dried coconut, and apricots. I always prefer the ones that don’t have a ton of added sugar like the unsweetened mango, apricots, and raisins.
Chomps Meat Sticks
I had been seeing a ton about Chomps Meat Sticks on social media, so I was super excited to see them at Trader Joe’s. Both of my boys love meat sticks, but I’m not a fan of the ingredients that you can find in some brands. Chomps are great because they use Grass Fed Beef and Free Range Turkey, have zero added sugar, no hormones or antibiotics, and no GMOs. They’re also Whole30 approved, which tells me they have super clean ingredients.
Raw Fruit Bars
These are amazing because they only contain two ingredients! For example, the Apple + Banana bar contains only apples and bananas. Amazing, right?
Cereal Bars
These come in a ton of different flavors including apple, strawberry, fig, and blueberry, and my kids have yet to not like one of them. They are made with organic wheat and oats, and I think they’re a great alternative to NutriGrain Bars.
Inner Peas
These are great for when we want something crunchy, but something a little more than crackers. The ingredients are simply green peas, oil, rice meal, and salt. Pretty clean ingredients and no added sugar.
3 Seed Sweet Potato Crackers
These are such a staple in our house! They’re great on their own, dipped in hummus or really any kind of dip. They are super low in sugar, and have no added sugar, and have a really short ingredient list.
Organic Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies
While the might seem like the Ritz peanut butter sandwich cookies, they actually have a little bit better ingredient list. They don’t have any hydrogenated oils, because they contain a lot of trans fats, which are not good for you. I used to think that buying organic crackers or snack-like things was a waste of money, but recently learned that anything that is labeled organic is inherently non-GMO, won’t have artificial coloring or flavor, and won’t contain glyphosate, which is found in Round-up. So overall, these are a fun snack to have every once in awhile.
Cheddar Rocket Crackers
Unlike some other cheddar crackers you might be familiar with, these have no artificial flavors or preservatives and a decent ingredient list.
12-Grain Mini Snack Crackers
These are a great source of fiber and my boys love them topped with a tiny square of cheese and a little piece of salami. They are also great for hummus and peanut butter dipping.
Veggie Sticks
Don’t get me wrong – I know veggie sticks are not the equivalent of serving your kids vegetables. They’re basically like a chip. But, to be as transparent and honest as possible, we occasionally buy veggie sticks and my kids love them. Don’t worry – I make sure they get in their “real” veggies at meal time 🙂
Cinnamon Schoolbook Cookies
These started as something I would buy myself, but they were super appealing to Lars as soon as he started learning the alphabet. These are fun to spell out words or have him tell me a word that starts with the letter that he is going to eat. Plus, they are delicious!!
Trail Mix
I usually pick out a trail mix that is mainly nuts and dried fruit, but since I had already bought some of that from ALDI (ALDI snack post coming soon!) I decided to pick out the kind with chocolate in it. This makes it more of a treat for my kids, but I’m okay with it as long as Lars is also eating the nuts and dried fruit. Soren isn’t eating nuts yet, so he just gets the dried fruit.
Whole Milk Peach Smoothie
These were new this time for us, and they were a hit with Lars. They are a little high on the sugar, but I’m okay with it if it means we can have yogurt on the go. Soren is still not a fan of anything yogurt-related so I haven’t tried these with him yet.
Organic Fruit Sauce Pouches
The only ingredients in these are organic apples and organic mangos. They’re great for a quick snack after the Y or at the park. We have a strict no-pouches-at-home rule, so these are definitely a treat!
As far as non-packaged food goes, we love buying fresh fruit, veggies, cheese sticks, organic yogurt, organic milk, oatmeal, and frozen veggies at Trader Joe’s for the kids, too! Seriously, I could write a whole other blog post about all of the things us adults like to eat from Trader Joe’s – the place has such great stuff!
Tell me – what are your favorite Trader Joe’s kid snacks for yourself and your kids?
